Tron: Ares

I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to watch this as I loved the last 2 Tron movies. And this one was done by woke Disney. But I was pleasantly surprised and glad they did not wreck this franchise, this time at least. Fun fact too, this was filmed in Vancouver, where there were many places I recognized in the various scenes.

Eve Lee, having taken over legendary company  Encom, is up against evil rival Dillinger Systems in pursuit of life-changing technology. The permanence code: like AI meets real world. Pretty cool concept actually. Very cool action and graphics. But it was poignant as well as the main character Eve still misses her beloved but deceased sister. 

Pain leads to many truths: “Being human is hard. The things that make life great are the things that make it excruciating, like love, loss.”

“Back in the day when tech was young, I’d think ‘damn, we’re moving fast’. (Sigh) You move fast, you leave stuff behind.”

“It’s not our purpose. It’s our programming. Our purpose is yet to be determined.”

“In my travels I’ve seen incredible things. Despite its wonder and beauty, I’ve come to realize that life is….well, it’s hard to put in a nutshell.”

Overall it’s a fun movie. It shows the power of friendship. The power of imagination. The power of trying. The power of creating the future. And dystopian one or a Utopian one. It’s all up to us. 

“One go around. That’s all you got.”

“Well, here goes nothing. Or here goes something.” 

“Maybe what emerges from the unknown won’t be so scary after all.”
