Chainsaw Man-The Movie Reze Arc: Wisdom from Mayhem

A long flight back from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan had me surfing different movies. Randomly decided to watch a Japanese anime movie, based on a popular comic around a band of young devil hunters in Tokyo who hunt strange monsters that embody human fears. Like I said before, SUPER weird. Also silly at times and dark and violent. 

But like many Japanese movies there is a surprising amount of depth and wisdom:

“I only find one good movie for every ten movies that I watched. But one of those was a movie that changed my life.”

There is something to this. Life is a numbers game. I always get asked: what’s the best book for….copywriting or investing or whatever. I always answer, you have to read them all. You won’t know what’s good until you read something bad. 

“The country mouse or the city mouse? Which one would you rather be? It’s one of Aesop’s fables. The country mouse has a safe life but doesn’t have delicious food that a city mouse has. The city mouse can find good food but he’s in danger of getting killed by a cat or human.”

Food for thought. Most people want to be the city mouse when they are young but yearn from country life when they get old. Personally, I still prefer city life. Just how I am wired I guess. The peaceful life is nice for a period of time but nothing beats the juice and excitement of the city. The risk and upside. 

Something about Japanese anime brings me back to my teenage past. I still reminisce about the simple and innocent times then. Chainsaw Man was a strange movie but it gave me some things to think about. Goes to show you, you can get ideas or inspiration from anywhere.
