Solo Mio: Love in Italy and Love of Italy
Kevin James stars as Mat, an American dumped at the altar in Rome by his fiancé, “heartbroken in the world’s happiest city.” But hilarity ensues when he is adopted by two other couples also on the honeymoon package. More importantly, he also meets a local lady named Gia. They end up connecting unexpectedly. After seeing the trailer I knew I had to watch this.
What man hasn’t had heartbreak? This is the fundamental experience every person has. For most of us, it’s a searing, painful time. But it’s usually the moment most of us grow up. The end of our innocence.
It’s where we learn some of the hardest lessons:
“It’s okay to not be okay if you are not okay”.
“If it’s real, don’t give up on her.”
“Even if you get hurt, just try.”
“All you have to do is try.”
Man, I love Italy. It’s so beautiful. The architecture, the food and the lifestyle. It’s heaven on earth. It truly is. The eternal city of Rome and the amazing nature of Tuscany. The traditions of historic Sienna which I have yet to visit. The warmth of the people.
Spoiler alert: The scene of Kevin James singing Nessun Dorma with Andrea Bocelli, was truly magnificent.
What a fun movie. It’s true though: Love always finds a way.
