Kickstart Your Day Properly: My Perfect Morning Routine

How you start your day is important. I’ve learned this like everything, the hard way. Jumping right into a call or email is damaging to your brain. You need to ease into the day. I’ve had a morning routine for the last decade but I’ve learned and optimized this over the years.

I like seeing what other people do and of course this is very personal. But everyone should have some form of morning routine to set your day up right. This is one I’ve set up and I find if I don’t do it, I am somewhat off for the rest of the day. I follow it religiously, even when I travel. So here it goes.

1.  The first thing I do is lie in bed and ease my way up for 5 min. I do my gratitude practice, about being grateful to have my health, my family, my business, my friends.

2. I have a drink of water (usually with LMNT), take some vitamins, lithium ororate & such.

3. I pray

4. Then I do 5-10 min of meditation. I usually don’t check email after, although I may do a glance through in case of any emergencies. I’ve gotten better at only looking at email after I finish the entire routine.

5. I do the Tony Robbins Priming Session which is about 15 min: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faTGTgid8Uc

6. I review my Vision Board

7. I do a Self Compassion Meditation by Sean Fargo recommended to me by my therapist. It calms me.

8. To prepare myself for the inevitable challenges of the day, I listen to this vignette from Boss Advice: “Pain Equals Future Success”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaEkmvEuki4

9. Then to amp myself up for the day, I listen to music. 1 or all my hype songs. Example being  “Bodies” by Drowning Pool, “Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of War Drums” by A Perfect Circle. I get really amped up by the last two songs particularly. I also love the new Dune 3 War Chant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLY5GFZumLE&list=RDnLY5GFZumLE&start_radio=1. Of course, it will be different for each person, so pick a song that gets you excited. Like an entry song on stage or arena.

And that it is. I do these and I can hit my to do list or calls with maximum energy. Whether war mode or monk mode, this sets up my day well. A morning routine is a must for kickstarting your brain and body. May you find as much value in a morning routine as I do.
